APPOINTMENT OF MEMBER(S)

The Community Conservation Fund of Namibia (CCFN) is on behalf of its stakeholders looking for interested candidates with the relevant demonstrated experience in natural resource management, public and/or civic sector, business and/or governance to serve as a “Member” of the organization. Membership is open to any natural person or organization with similar objectives to that of CCFN (see summary below).

A Member is a fundamental part of the Governance of the organization as he/she/it forms a part the General Assembly, highest internal oversight body of the institution. A member is expected to contribute to the General Meeting of members on matters prescribed by the Articles of Association of the organization and its By-Laws representing the stakeholders in such matters.

The Organisation

CCFN is a not-for-gain association with a mandate to raise, administer grow and disburse funding for the benefit of the Community Based Natural Resource Management programme (CBNRM) in Namibia. In so doing it aims to promote sustainable development of community conservancies, community forests and related natural resource management entities with a similar legal mandate that contributes to:

  • (a) conservation, protection and improvement of the natural environment and bio-diversity including the sustainable use of natural resources
  • (b) relief of poverty and improvement of livelihoods for the benefit of the members for the benefit of the members of the communal conservancies and community forests.

Amongst these are 84 communal conservancies and 45 community forests that work to sustainably manage their wildlife and other natural resources to improve the livelihoods of their members.

Membership and Responsibility of Members

The General Assembly comprises of a minimum seven (7) members who shall be responsible for executing the duties as prescribed by the Namibian Companies Act in respect of oversight of the institution. Included therein are the consideration of annual financial statements, appointment of directors, the appointment of auditors and all business laid before it.

Expected Frequency of Meetings

Members will be expected to meet for a meeting a minimum once annually, with potential for the calling of special meetings at any other time during the year where necessary.

COMMUNICATIONS ASSISTANT

The Organisation

CCFN is a not-for-gain association aiming to promote and support sustainable financing of Namibia’s Community Based Natural Resource Management Programme. The organization supports communal conservancies, community forests and related community-based natural resources management entities and their beneficiaries. Amongst these are 84 communal conservancies and 45 community forests that work to sustainably manage their wildlife and other natural resources to improve the livelihoods of their members. The organization aims to serve primarily as a conduit between donors and the CBNRM Programme.

The Position

The Incumbent will work with the other team members, and various stakeholders and report to the Chief Executive Officer. He/she will be mainly responsible for:

  • Write a range of media material on the organization’s work and projects, ensuring it remains consistent, upbeat and delivered in a timely fashion\
  • Be the conduit of outgoing organization communications, adverts, invitations
  • Draft and distribute organization meeting minutes (internal and external) as may be appropriate
  • Support implementation of the organization’s communications plan
  • Coordinate the management and updating of information on the orgasation’s website and support the development and use of social media platforms
  • Periodically send out communique and other relevant information to stakeholders
  • Draft/design conceptually other communications material as directed from time to time
  • Take and maintain a library of key photographic material, video and audit content related to the organization’s activities.

The Person

Minimum requirements:

  • Young, vibrant professional to fit into a diverse team with the following minimum qualifications
  • A qualification in Journalism, Public Relations, Media Studies, Marketing or a related field
  • Practical experience in a similar role - written articles, written short stories, drafting/designing adverts, media releases etc.
  • Ability to work under tight time pressures and produce quality content unsupervised
  • General familiarity with social media and web content
  • Strong computer literacy
  • An interest in environmental issues (Experience in environmental issues will be an added advantage)

We offer a market related salary scale for the contract period. The candidate will be stationed in Windhoek with expectations to travel in and around Namibia. The closing date is 3rd October 2022.
